From the LA Times - Vernon Wells going from Angels to Yankees? Not likely

Outfielder could be an answer for the New York club, which lost Curtis Granderson until May because of a broken arm, but the $42 million owed to Wells appears to be too large of a price tag.

TEMPE, Ariz. — The most interesting spring development regarding the Angels on Sunday happened in Florida, where Curtis Granderson of the New York Yankees suffered a broken arm.

If my hunch is right, Kole Calhoun is going to make it REAL hard for Dipoto to send him back to SLC after ST.

I think if Wells shows any amount of ability to swing the bat in ST, the bullet will be bitten, and Wells will go elsewhere.

Money hasn't held Arte back much, if at all, and I don't think money is going to keep him from making the right move now. He has spent tons of cash to win, and the time is here.

One can only hope.

No shit the 24 million is an obstacle. It would be a given that the angels would have to pay 80% of the contract just to get a return call

maybe we could trade Wells for Juan Rivera?

Rivera was on MLB.com interview today talking about the Granderson injury. I guess Juan Rivera is someone the Yankees are looking to, to 'step up'

No wonder Wells is being mentioned then.

Mr. Juan "GIDP" Rivera. His running speed is deceptively slow.........he's actually much slower than he looks like when he's running and he looks slow.

A glance at him and you wouldn't place him in the category of having the base running speed and skills of a LF type guy who should be DHing or maybe playing 1B and hits for power.

Rivera is that guy WITHOUT the power -- same level of outfield D as that king of guy, though.

To be fair, Juan Rivera did hit some clutch HRs for the Halos during his time here and had some clutch hits and RBIs......but GEEZ was he slow.

If we could have found someone to take half of Wells' contract, he would already be gone. Rumor has it that potential trade partners are asking for the Angels to pick up more like 90 percent.

I can see other teams demanding this scenario. Would be nice to dump to make way for someone else like Calhoun.
