Time To Demote Cron?

The guy has 16 hits in 82 ABs this season with only 5 going for extra base hits only 2 BBs, has no glove or speed and he's appeared to have totally lost his approach. The guy has power, we've all seen it on display, but he's not even Trumbo circa post-2012 AllStar break at this point. I don't think you give up on him but he needs a re-set. Right now, the lineup is rife with holes from Ianetta to Joyce to basically anything 4-9. I think it's time to give someone like Green an extended look in the OF or at least DH

Green could be just as good of a backup at first base and can play LF if needed. With that said Navarro would probably be the promoted if Cron is sent down to AAA.

I agree, he has all the symptoms of a AAAA guy. Not to mention he is a terrific A-hole (well, at least he was to my daughter last year), so....see ya 'Cronie'. I just hope they wait until after 5/18 to do it. I have season tix here in Reno right next to the visitors dugout, and our first Bees games are the 16th-18th. I'd hate for him to ruin our night again like last year when my daughter asked him for an autograph. Every other dude on that team was cool as hell though, Grant Green, Taylor Lindsey, and Matt Long in particular. They all took photos, signed her ball, Matt even gave her his batting gloves, great kid. CJ comes into the dugout after stretching dropping F Bombs at the top of his lungs, so one of the other players kinda grabbed him and pointed towards my kid and a couple other boys that were by us to tell him to keep it down. He then yells louder "I don't give a F**K!!!". The other dude just walked away shaking his head. I didn't care that he was cussing so much, hell, my kid has grown up with me in the house! What bothered me is that he acted like just like a total punk, full-on coach's kid attitude. A couple innings later, she asked him for an autograph right after Lucho gave her his. She got as far as "Mr. Cron, can I please have your auto..NOPE!!! he said, then turned around and walked away. Total dickhead, this guy. Dude needs his ass whipped, I think. He lost a couple of loyal Angel fans forever that night, so I wouldn't mind seeing him go down to SLC and tear it up for a month before being part of a package for a real bat. This is all my opinion though, but that really did happen, so I wanted to share.

well, he's embarrassing himself almost daily on national television, so there's that. unfortunately he isn't just punishing himself, it's punishing the whole team.

I agree that he shouldn't be given up on but he doesn't really have the history to justify leaving him on the roster, waiting for him to come out of it. He actually needs to go back down and learn a few more things. If NOTHING else, learn how to field a routine foul pop up.

Not that odd when watching his AB's. Dude swings at everything and too often he's looking like a freakin slap hitting MIFer with how he lunges and just pokes the bat to try and make contact on some god awful pitch out of the zone. His approach is complete junk

This team needs a shake up. Over both Cron and Joyce. They could easily be replaced by Green, Cowgill, and/or Navarro in the lineup. Those three might not be the answer, but I'd like to at least see them given a chance to try. At this point it wouldn't hurt.

Cron's going to be good eventually, of that I am convinced.  But right now, he's lost at the plate, and he needs to find himself.  At the same time, the offense needs help because it's been pathetic for over a month now.  It's time to send him down to AAA and promote Grant Green and/or Jett Bandy.

I find that most guys in the minors are pretty nice to fans. When I attended games in Jacksonville and Oklahoma City I often had conversations with both home and visiting players before games. In Oklahoma City, after the last game played at the old ballpark (and also the last game for the American Association) the team held a get-together on the field between the players and fans and pretty much every player stayed for it. (An aside: Bobby Abreu played in that game for New Orleans, then the AAA farm club for the Houston Astros). Got a bunch of autographs, had some nice chats with some guys who were being called up, and a couple who weren't.  Sounds like you had just the opposite with C. J. Cron. I hate that, especially for your daughter.

 

Just goes to show that a guy wearing your team's uniform doesn't automatically cross him off the douche list.

I have had him tweet back at me a few times about random crap in the past.
