Man, was I wrong about Hunter

I expected his contract year with the Angels to be his last good season. He hasn't been as good but ~.780 OPS with his heart for the game, warts and all, would have been nice for the three recent seasons. Plus that would have kept JH in Texas.

Letting him move on and not stepping up to sign Beltre (along with his TUE), are possibly the two biggest mistakes of the post Stoneman era,

The beltre move was the worst. It showed, more than anything, IMO, that the front office had no real plan for beyond the current year or two.

The big reason i was so vocal about wanting beltre wasnt simply because of how good he is (though indont thonk he would have been as good here as texas), but because the 3B position is so thin mlb wide. There were none on our own system, nor any that were going to become avaialable during the course of the contract he was seeking.

A beltre/aybar left side would have been very nice. And beltre/napoli would have been very nice back when we had outstanding pitching but little offense

22.7 WAR his first 4 years while making an average of 15 mil per.   If that's an overpay, then Kate Upton is need of a breast enlargement.

Eye opening analogy there.

It is a mountains out of molehills argument.

IIRC if the Angels sign Beltre, the Vernon Wells trade likely doesn't happen.

I wasn't, you could totally tell from his last season with the Angels that he changed his approach and started using the whole field. Yeah, once in a while he'll swing out of his shoes to try and pull one out of the park, but that's no longer his game. Unlike someone else making 30mil per that used to use the whole field but is now dead pull, because he probably feels disrespected and wants to put the ball in play harder.
