Any rumors or ideas on who the Angels might target in the MLB draft?

Nooooo idea, but you'd have to think it'd be a college bat, right? I get their logic in going pitching heavy these last couple of years, but it might make sense to start stockpiling bats. This organization severely lacks any upside bats. Newcomb, Heaney, Tropeano, Ellis, Rhoades, Smith, DeLoach, Gatto, and Alcantara all offer intriguing arms, but there's a scarce number of bats in comparison. Regardless, just glad to have back-to-back years of first round picks.

When you pick 26th it all depends on who is picked ahead of your pick. I think thry take the best available player on their board. I agree they need bats but if the best available is a pitcher you tske him.

I think it was on the effectively wild podcast, but someone was saying that the draft class this year is particularly weak. I even think they said that the guys that are going to be picks 1-10 wouldn't even go in the first round in the last several drafts.

Looking at the MLB rankings right around where the Angels will pick I see Chris Betts High School SS and he is local. Another SS Kevin Smith for AZ. Say he has a below avg arm and might fit better at 2b. Cornelius Randolph looks good but he is a High School SS that profiles at 3b in the pros.

DJ Stewart out of Florida St. Is another option. Corner outfielder with plus power. Ranked 33rd by MLB.

If Aiken or Mitch Hansen is available, take him.  Otherwise, go Hooper, Randolph, Stewart.

I know little about the draft this early, but given hue stocked the system is in pitching prospects, my only really hope is that they go heavy on position players in an attempt to even things out a little.

Why do you say that? Have you watched him play?

That just means the first 15 or so picks....  It's been pretty much studied that after the first 15 picks, every draft is basically the same.   So, the only time a "weak" draft is really worth considering is when you're thinking about possibly signing a FA or not.
