Unbelievably Bad

After last year where I was so excited by the Pujols and Wilson signings to go along with a quality year by Harren before that and some life to Santana, I tried to temper my enthusiasm for this year and guard against disappointment. Last year, April was just so hard to take. But still, part of me thought there was no way that this season could be worse than that. Surely the Angels would do better. I realize starting out on the road against two post-season teams and then a homestand starting with last season's ultimate division winner was a challenging start. But following that up with a shutout to a team that lost more than 100 games last year, to a pitcher who had a road era last year at about 7 and to only must 3 hits. It's just amazing that the team can be that bad at every facet of the game. Last year in the early part of the season, it was similar problems. They were simply bad at every facet--pitching, relief pitching, hitting, hitting with RISP, defense. Even in my guarded expectations or my worst nightmares, I could not imagine that they could suck this badly.

Right now this team is the perfect storm of suck.  I've already stopped being surprised when they sink to a new low.

 

Off and on I've been on the "Fire Scioscia!" bandwagon, but at this point I'm fully on it.  Something is rotten with this team and some changes have to be made.  Consecutive horrid starts like this are inexcusable.  Yes, the players are ultimately the ones that have to perform.  However, this team seems to be constantly unprepared for whomever they're facing, fundamentally flawed, and appearing to be uninspired when they play.  That's management right there.

Imo this seems to be a classic case of player sabotage. Haven't seen any player support him, past or present.

Let's extend Scioscia through 2100. Who extends a manager to a 10 year deal?!?!

Arte deserves major blame here folks. He was the one who insisted the club stick to slot money before the new CBA. So incredibly stupid.
