Bonds is the best baseball player who ever lived.

Not sure about where he would rank amongst the greats but I do remember when all the networks would switch over to see his every at bat during his historical homerun record chase. The ratings were at an alltime high. People loved watching the baseball get crushed. But now we have to watch guys like Matt Joyce hit cleanup.

Same plus watching all the baseball traditionalists lose their collective minds would be hilarious.

second only to Bonds fans going apesh*t when he doesn't come close to making the HOF.  Watching them argue his case is highly amusing.

hitting two spots behind a guy who is on track to be one of the top ten baseball players in the history of the game.

my advice?  Watch Trout hit then go grab a beer.

Mike Trout is the food equivalent of bacon.

I really dont care about who gets into the hall of fame.  Not sure why anyone would.  The hall of fame doesnt mean anything anymore.  Its merely a popularity a contest.  Its not about who was talented and who produced on the field nowadays.  If you were nice to the media, you got a chance at the hall.

Youre right its not close. Home run king and 7 time MVP. Best offensive monster the game has seen. Got on base at will and would hit any pitch out.

Bro,

Ruth his over .370 six times. And he hit bombs in parks where the fences were 450 feet if not further.

Ruth out homered teams. And his pitching was legendary.

There were years he wasn't hitting because he was one of the best pitchers in the league.

I don't know if you're 22 years old and just got a massive Woody for Bonds as a kid but Bonds is nothing like he game changer Babe was.

Bonds was good. I'm not even one of those guys who will say he did that on Roids. I don't care about juicing. But Bonds was not Ruth.

Nobody was that good.

By the way Trout could end up being a better player than Bonds, and dethrone him as the best player the game has ever seen.

Hes not going to do it as a .900 OPS player.  He'll need to string together some 1.0+ OPS seasons and some MVPs.  But with his overall game, and if he keeps his running game going, he could be the goat.  Doing it in the clutch and coming through with a ring would certainly help his case, we know what it did for Jeter.

You're going to hate me for saying this but I when I consider baseball greats I dont usually put Ruth in that discussion.  Not knocking his numbers or what he accomplished, but the game of baseball was merely just beginning to evolve at that point in history.

To give you some perspective, its the Wilt Chamberlain argument.  Wilt dominated the game like nobody ever has, the guy really averaged 50 and 20 for a season.  Going by those numbers, Wilt would be considered the GOAT.  But everyone will tell you, Jordan is the GOAT.

Trout will never be as good as Ruth.

Ruth is an all time great hitting and then there's this (and it doesn't even include his pitching heroics in the post season)

and lol @ ARod being a first ballot HOFer

Yeah, because the guy whos 5th all time in homers doesnt belong in a group considered "baseball's elite."  Popularity contest and the hall of fame is completely meaningless.

PS, Tyrus Cobb was better than Bonds also.

Guy destroyed the game of baseball, and was more hated than Bonds.

See my previous post, RE: the Wilt Chamerlain argument.

Nobody thinks Wilt is the greatest of all time. He's never part of the discussion.

Now Bill Russell was just as dominant and won many titles.

There were amazing HOFs playing when Ruth played. It's silly to say that Bonds played in tougher conditions with small parks to hit HRs in and expanded leagues with watered down pitching.

Bonds was a great player. But how many rings does he have. If anything HE is the Wilt Chamberlin in your argument.

Ruth was a master pitching and hitting and won doing both.

You don't know much about baseball if you don't even consider him among the greats.

Bonds would have no record for HRs of Ruth wasn't a pitcher.
