Hamilton's Texas Press Conference

No, but you might be. I'm not saying their intention was to tank his value. I'm saying that ended up being the result.

And the obtuse statement remains valid.

Hamilton ended the season posting the fewest games as an Angel and with his worst statistical season.

He opted for shoulder surgery in February guaranteeing he would not be available for Spring Training.

He openly admitted his cocaine usage that was verified the Commissioners office and went to arbitration

He filed for divorce which solidified his life was circling a drain

He was damaged goods before the front office said a word.

And yet they chose to, lowering his "relative" value. It wasn't that he was shown to be worse or even less committed. It just showed how uncommitted the Angels were to him. They proved they had no intention of keeping him thus allowing the Rangers to realize they had to pay very little to get him.

Even the obtuse such as yourself should be able to comprehend that Blarg.

You still don't get it. Not surprising. You have a history of struggling with simple concepts.

The Angels didn't lower his trade value to the market. They lowered his relative value by showing how much they didn't want him. By showing everyone else that they set up the situation they ended with. The Rangers didn't need to pay more than a few million to get him because the Angels showed they would be dumping him no matter what. They tried to up his value by claiming to have some plan to have him return to the team but everyone knew that was fake. Their attempt to bump his value back up failed after the Rangers called their bluff.

I'm struggling with your concept too. How could the Angels reduce his relative value when his trade value was already at ZERO based on his performance over the 2 previous seasons?

You don't get it because you struggle with your ego, lifetime.

Hamilton had no value to any other franchise than the Rangers and even then it was only because Josh agreed to go there. The Rangers were never going to pay one extra dime or add one more ptbnl no matter if the Angels fellated Hamilton in public.

The Rangers front office knew exactly what the situation was, all of baseball knew what the situation was. Only you seem to not understand what the entire scope of this mess means.

The Angels could not promote in any way a player that relapsed and is now one **** up away from being banned from baseball. Hamilton was not going to net any more of a return than what transpired.

But you go ahead and stay in that altered reality if yours where you can pass some sort of judgement on the one party that didn't cause this entire clusterfrack.

They tanked his value themselves hoping it let them escape the contract. Their plan didn't work.

Hamilton was already valued when he signed the contract to play for the Angels. Im struggling to understand how lowering his "value" now would help them escape his contract. Lowering the value of something does not void it of contractual obligation.

Lowering his value didn't help them escape the contract. Their chosen method of trying to get out of the contract is what lowered his value. Talking him down and attempting to discredit him showed the Rangers just how little the Angels wanted Hamilton on their team.

I don't think this is verified, but I heard Hamilton nixed a deal that would've sent him to an NL team.

The thing they used to try to escape the contract (distancing and discrediting) is what lowered his value. Lowering his value wasn't the goal. It was irrelevant to them. They didn't think they'd still be liable for the contract. They were and everyone saw how much they didn't want him.

How is it that Hamilton is one F up from being banned? A suspension is understandable.

The Rangers GM was on Mike and Mike this morning. He said that he and Dipoto first discussed a possible deal during the off season, talks intensified recently and the deal was done. He went on to say that he believes that the Angels are being unfairly blamed for things that they did or didn't do. He said, "Ultimately Josh is responsible for his own behavior."
