The Pokini family's avocado tree is more than 10 years old and 20 feet (6.1 meters) tall. Mark Pokini planted it when his son was born, using a seed from his brother-in-law's tree on Oahu island, he said.

A Hawaii family has won a place with the Guinness World Records for the world's heaviest avocado.

The Pokini family from the island of Maui received the Guinness certificate this week for the avocado weighing 5.6 pounds, The Maui News reported Thursday.

The average avocado weighs about 6 ounces, according to Guinness officials.

China has 400 mph ‘flying saucer’ attack helicopter with stealth coating, missiles

An experimental attack helicopter that looks like a flying saucer has been unveiled in China.

The strange flying machine, dubbed the Great White Shark, is loaded with an arsenal of high-tech weaponry and could take to the skies as early as next year.

Pictures of the UFO-like aircraft with an unusual central cockpit first began to circulate online last week after it featured at an air show near Beijing.

State-run Chinese paper Global Times later confirmed that the contraption was a new type of experimental helicopter known as the Great White Shark.

The craft can be coated with stealth materials and loaded with missiles, making it a potentially lethal weapon on the battlefield.

"The Super Great White Shark is a high-speed helicopter designed for future digitalized warfare," Global Times wrote.

"Attracted by the futuristic design of the aircraft, Chinese military observers pointed out that the aircraft's high-speed and stealth capabilities could give the weapon an edge on the battlefield."

The helicopter was apparently shown off at the China Aviation Helicopter Industry Base in the eastern Chinese district of Binhai.

It was essentially a wide metal ring with a cockpit lodged in its center, stretching more than seven meters long and just under three meters wide.

A propeller was housed within the ring, bolstered by two turbojet engines that can provide forward thrust. The craft's pokey size would help it avoid detection on the battlefield

Plans suggest the craft would be capable of firing missiles at enemy targets, though exactly where they would launch from is unclear.

It can apparently reach speeds of up to 400mph and fly up to 20,000 feet high.

Some experts in China reportedly expressed concerns that the craft would not be stable enough to fly. Similar experiments in the US have later been canned.

"Whether or not this particular helicopter can become practical, such explorations are beneficial to China's technology development for future helicopters," an anonymous military expert told the Global Times.

China, hell-bent on becoming the world's most powerful country, recently boosted annual military spending to a whopping £140billion.

For comparison, Britain spends $48 billion a year on its military, while the United States defense budget - the biggest in the world - sits at $696 billion.

The remarkable sight was captured by ocean photographer Nadia Aly, 35, from Mountain View, California, who spent four hours with the estimated 10,000 rays in the Baja of Mexico, in the northwest of the country. (Credit: SWNS)

It’s rare to see so many rays in such perfect visibility and the encounter saw the creatures at varying depths, ranging from the surface, down to 100 feet. (Credit: SWNS)

Incredible images show a fever of thousands of Mobula rays -- also called devil rays -- swimming in near-perfect formation just off the Mexican shore.

The images were taken by ocean photographer Nadia Aly, SWNS reports. Aly, 35, had been swimming for four hours near the group in Baja California, Mexico, when she snapped the pics.

“It is very rare to get an encounter like this, with this many rays, in near-perfect visibility," Aly said in comments obtained by SWNS. “I estimate that there were over 10,000 rays. They were also not as skittish as they normally are.”

Closely related to sharks, Mobula rays are difficult to film and are considered shy. Mobula rays are often mistaken for manta rays and have been known to fly out of the ocean, according to scientists at Boston University.

It's unclear why Mobula rays jump out of the ocean, but some theories include removing parasites from their bodies, exercise, mating rituals, hunting and being playful.

According to Our Seas Our Future Charitable Trust, Mobula rays, which have described by some fishermen as "flying tortillas" for their aquatic acrobatics, can jump as high as 6 feet out of the water, before belly-flopping back into the sea.

The largest rays in the species can reach up to 17 feet from tip to tip and are often found in temperate and tropical waters around the globe.

Matthew Bushman, a 36-year-old with his name tattooed on his neck, allegedly gave police a fake name.

An Illinois man was arrested after he allegedly gave police a fake name... despite having his real name tattooed on his neck.

Matthew Bushman, 36, supposedly gave the false ID and birthdate to officers with the Mattoon Police Department, who were investigating a forgery, on Oct. 8.

Authorities wrote on Facebook Tuesday that Bushman — or "Matty B," as his tattoo states — had a warrant out for his arrest in Peoria County, and so he lied about his name.

Florida man arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting stuffed 'Olaf' at Target

A Florida man was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting an Olaf stuffed doll — of the wildly popular PG-rated Disney movie “Frozen” — in a Target store on Tuesday, a report said.

Cody Meader, 20, is accused of placing the popular snowman on the floor and “dry hump[ing]” it “until he ejaculated,” at the Pinellas Park store at about 2 p.m., according to an arrest affidavit obtained by thesmokinggun.com

Meader then found a stuffed unicorn in the store that he allegedly dry-humped before the cops arrived.

Cops say he admitted his dirty deed to cops, saying he did “stupid stuff” on the Olaf.

Meader’s father told cops his son has a history of this type of behavior, the arrest record said.

Cops charged Meader with criminal mischief and said the stuffed animals had to be destroyed.

???

so i'm guessing his probation will include a restraining order for him from attending theaters (movie displays), sporting events (wild wing, bailey, etc), and any store with a DVD release of an animated movie.

junk.jpg?ve=1&tl=1

Police in Staffordshire, U.K., Twitter shamed a junk hauler they pulled over this week with a comically overloaded flatbed truck. The vehicle’s wood cargo box was piled high with a load of pallets and cardboard that was hanging over the sides so far that it took up more than one lane, SWNS reported.

“The load was dangerously insecure and unbalanced, it had [a registration] that expired back in June, defective lights and indicators and defective brakes,” police wrote.

One online commenter suggested that “Steptoe and Son are back,” referring to the classic British TV show about a father and son scrap business that Redd Foxx’s “Sanford and Son,” was based on.
