The Angels lost Chris Iannetta's platoon mate in early November, when Hank Conger was dealt to the Astros for young starter Nick Tropeano and Minor League catcher Carlos Perez. But Angels manager Mike Scioscia doesn't have any plans to give Iannetta a Salvador Perez-type workload.

No comments on this? I hope Perez or Bandy can prove something because if I have to watch Butera play 50+ games, it'll be worst than Mathis.

I am certainly with you on this, OregonLAA. I hope that Bandy is the one to step forward but Perez would be better than Butera.

Last I heard, Perez was tearing it up in Winter Ball, did he ever cool off? I'd be okay with giving Ianetta the majority of starts, 100-115, but two things worry me.

 

1. I hope he's been working on his defense. The ability to frame pitches and throw runners out has plagued the Angels for a few years now.

2. Gotta keep him fresh. Catcher is easily the most taxing position to play and if he gets injured, then who backs up Perez? Butera? Eugh.
