Baldoquin can't be the only one, correct?   They won't count against the luxury tax, unless playing at the MLB level.

We did ask him about those guys. He just said something "our guys are down there looking at them." He also made a little comment about he got hit by the tax for Baldoquin, so that doesn't sound like a guy eager to pay another $30M in tax alone for Moncada.

Why pay the 100% penalty tax for a player that won't be on the MLB roster?

Not necessarily talking about Moncada, as that tax is steep 

But there are others (Olivera, Ibanez, etc.).

 

Arte is worried about a little tax to sign Baldoquin ($4 million)?

Boy, has he ever changed from the guy who threw money at Pujols and Hackilton.

I don't mind not paying anymore of those age 30+ guys ridiculous money.   But don't go in the opposite direction now just because.

The just because is they have no resume you can attach a value to. Just because they played in the Cuban league doesn't instantly make them MLB players.
