Been watching the last couple of nights the epic marathon VH1 Classic has been showing. So good.

 

I disagree with a lot of the list of course but I don't even care. SNL is God.

Adam Rank was on Travis' show this morning, and he had Phil Hartman #1. 

 

I myself can't separate out 1 from the rest, although I always come back to John Belushi because of the energy in his skits.

Hartman was a jack of all trades on the show.   His death, and Belushi's, Gilda Radner's, and Chris Farley's, is still a tragedy to this day.

 

Dan Ackroyd was always right there too.    His Julia Child was always unforgettable.

 

Farley was a lot like Belushi, tragically with the same demons.

 

Best female on the show?    To me, no question, Gilda Radner

So many greats on the show.  But to me, the seventies, early eighties cast is my SNL.

I actually thought the list was great.  Only thing I didn't agree with was that Will Farrell got funnier after he left the show.  And maybe that Chevy Chase was rated too high.

Phil Hartman is hilarious in this skit.  One of my favorite SNL skits of all-time.  Volume sucks though, but it's the only video I can find of this skit.

That list was a joke, way too many of the current cast members were ranked too high, thus it has zero credibility.

I would have ranked Cheri Oteri quite a bit higher.

John Belushi was funny and memorable, but Phil Hartman did it better and for much longer. Hartman would be #1 for me, easily.

I laughed almost as much reading about them, as watching them!  I lost (and gained!) many a girlfriend in high school because I HAD to watch SNL!

A good list, if only because Belushi is #1.

That was a really cool list.  I disagree with a lot of the rankings (Al Franken in the Top 20?  Stop it.), but these kinds of lists are like that.  Meant to promote conversation more than anything.  

 

Fun going through and remembering all the people.  I always forget that Rob Riggle was on the cast (for a cup of coffee).

As a writer, I think he was easily Top 10.  Maybe even Top 5.  As a "not ready for prime time player?"  Meh.

I think the top of the list is great, but man the bottom of the list is just awful. Norm McDonald, someone they let do Weekend Update being in the bottom ten, that is just ridiculous.

Yea Geoff, If you add his skit acting with everything he has done as a writer then he's definitely higher up on the list for sure. He was a key writer in that era.
