Or we can feel bad for the kids they beat by cheating.

I'm not convinced the kids were cheating ... it might of been the adults.

I feel bad for all the kids involved.

kids know what kids are in their region. if a kid that i hadn't played against

all year is suddenly on my all-star team, it would have been obvious

i'm not buying "the kids didn't know anything"

You don't have to buy it Lou.

yeah, you play against these guys for four months. you know who belongs and who doesn't. the kids that were passed over from playing on the all star team were painfully aware of it, too.

shame on the adults for doing this. the coach of the team has been suspended by the national little league association, though i haven't heard yet for how long. i don't think he should be the only one punished for this as others had to be brought in on planning and executing this.

Nice post

I hope Lou takes the time to read it.

the kids and their team benefitted from breaking the rules. the punishment fits the crime, no matter how much we may dislike what it does to the kids.

I still feel bad for the kids. Hope they don't do any jail time.

i feel bad for them to a degree. i hope they won't give up on baseball.

statistically speaking, young black males in chicago have a very tough road ahead.

it's impossible to punish the adults effectively without the kids being included in the collateral damage. it's hard to know what a kid knows because the rules and bylaws can easily go over their head. it's pretty easy to convince a kid of what is an obvious lie to an adult. that being said, you can't allow their championship to stand when they cheated, other kids that weren't a part of cheating would be victimized twice by it.

also, anybody that had anything to do with the cheating should be barred permanently from youth baseball. we don't need them teaching kids that wrong is right.
