At my place in eastern Oregon at least half of the people I know open carry a firearm at all times. I certainly do. There are the normal predators, bear and cougar, all over but now there are also large packs of huge canadian grey wolves that some fucktard govt assholes introduced into the area (reintroduced is not accurate, the indigenous species was much smaller).

With all those evil guns there must be a lot of gun crimes and accidents, right? No. Nothing at all. People are polite and friendly and certainly considerate of others' property.

Securing your weapons is the easiest thing there is.

This video came out a few days ago:

From 3:18 in the video,

"You killed me (moaning)"           (the attacker survived)
"You were gonna kill ME!"
"Yeah, you're right I was"
"Well, then I did the right thing"
"You did."

That guy should have called the "authorities" like a good little slave and waited while he and his girlfriend (and possibly other neighbors) are hacked to pieces?

You brought up a good point with the natural predators in certain areas, and then you veered right into standard gun-nut territory, the fantasy of shooting somebody who is breaking into your house.  Statistically (I know, statistics) you're much more likely to have a family member accidentally shot than you are to Zimmerman an intruder.  Is that risk worth it?

Maybe I'm crazy here but I'd guess far more people in the US are killed by intrudera in their home than by natural predators like wolves, mountain lions and bears combined. I would certainly think fear of hinge invasion is far more rational than fear of predators.

I have no fantasies of shooting anyone but I do have nightmares about relying on Officer Halfwit to protect my angels.
