Deflated Greatness & Super Bowl post game thoughts

Luckily for he NFL the game was a blowout. Imagine if the game was decided by a field goal or was closer. Apparently the NFL knew at half time the Patriots were using deflated balls.

As far as the refs knowing at half time I assume (but you know what they say when you assume) they then swapped out for balls that were properly inflated or properly inflated the balls they had.  The Patriots outscored the Colts 28-0 in the second half.  I dislike the Patriots as much as most non-NE fans but to me this is pretty much a non-story.  The refs checked and verified the balls before the game and after inflating the balls in a warmer indoor area they ended up outside in 40 degree rainy weather which can deflate the balls to some degree.  Again if the Patriots did something I'm not defending it but a lot of the QB's you've heard something out of says teams or players doing something to the ball isn't anything new.  In this case it sure wasn't the reason Indy got destroyed.

Lol at this being a story. Deflated balls are not going to make a difference in that game. I mean, shit, even Indy's players are saying that this is being over blown. Andrew Luck came out and said this is being made way big a deal off. Why? Because every QB has a preference on their balls.

This is on the referees. They approved of the balls. If they were tampered with after, well they also picked up the balls during the game. The refs should have noticed.

Brad Johnson came out and said he paid off the ball boys in the Super Bowl that Tampa won to scuff the balls up. Aaron Rodgers came out and said he likes his balls overinflated.

This is a non-story.

jerome bettis was on espn and said the under inflated ball made it easier for a running back to hold on to it, and therefore less likely he would fumble. he said it was also easier for receivers to catch.

i don't know if the pats have any RBs with fumbleitis, but if they do, that might be a reason this was done.

i expect the NFL will fine the pats heavily for this and that it will spark a discussion of who supplies the footballs for each game, taking control of that away from each team (like in all other major sports).

The thing is they had a referee on and through the course of the games both sides 12 balls get mixed up and used. It's not like the Pats used their own balls.

My favorite was when they asked Brady about it because they say you can grip the ball better and thus throw better balls, they had game footage of his throws in the background and all of them were wobbly ducks.

If someone is to blame here, I'd put more on Brady than I would Belichick.

Personally, I'd blame the refs OR the people in charge of all this. How freaking hard is it to get new balls or just pump those back up again?! Isn't that easy and  (part of) their job?

Don't the refs pick up the football and mark it what yard line it's at after EVERY PLAY? Wouldn't they have noticed this? Why were they even in play to start with?!

If people brought shaved dice into a casino and played craps with them... I sure as hell wouldn't blame the player. Of course, that'd never happen.

I say this all as a Raven fan, too.

Cheating is cheating. They are diminishing the game.

Their second time being caught cheating. Have to wonder what else they are doing to cheat.

Cheating is cheating. Let the punishment fit the crime though. If they can prove Brady or the coaching staff knew about the football's then you can punish someone individually. Punish the organization otherwise. Whether it's draft picks. Limit FA signings, roster size, etc. If you're going the "Paul Dee route" and say everyone "should have known" about the weight of the football's then that's ridiculous.

You had Greg Williams on tape telling his players to injure other players. I think former players came forward and said coaches knew this was going on I believe and not just for a few games. This went on for yeara

There's a difference iyam

the only reason Payton's punishment was so harsh is because

it occurred right as the nfl was being sued left and right by former

players for injuries sustained while playing, namely, concussions

they had to hit him hard.

that being said, Belichick is a nimrod

actually, the opposite is true, OLAA

over the last 8 seasons, they have been in the bottom 5 in fumbles in the nfl 7 times.

only last season were they in the top 10.

obviously that means they've been pulling this crap for a long time!
