That's cute. I really like McCutchen from what I've seen, I admittedly don't watch a lot of him. However, I highly doubt he is as good as Trout, now if we were talking defensively I could see that.

That puts him in the discussion. He also edged him in wRC+... by 1 point.

 

They were rated similar defensively.

 

Trout beat him in WAR because he played in 11 more games and was a better baserunner.

 

I think it's fair to call last year a tie... but it's being generous.

 

2013, and 2012 are not close. Trout is a lot younger, so there is no reason to really project McCutchen above Trout going forward, which explains the huge gaps in the 2015 projections between the two players.
