What about Bob Miller?

IMO, there are some announcer that transcend.  Vin Scully would transcend.  But even if in the Hall, Miller and Chick are really So Cal specific.  Maybe Mt. Wilson, but not Mt. Rushmore.

Then again, it seems in this thread most people have no idea who Dionne is.  So Miller has a shot.

Dionne was a fantastic player... but even he couldn't put SoCal Hockey on the map. It wasn't until Gretzky that people across the country said "there's hockey in LA?"

So the Miracle on Manchester, the Triple Crown line, and top 10 in the NHL in career goal, assists and points doesn't put SoCal Hockey on the map but Robitaille does?

I love Luc.  But really name one thing Luc has done that puts the Kings on the map?  Because I named 5 for Dionne.

if that's the criteria, only Gretzky deserves to be included.

Dionne's career was outstanding.

team's all-time leading scorer and 8-time AS as a King. Led team in scoring 9 straight years.  He had 153 more pts than Luc, who is 2nd in scoring. (Dionne did this is 156 less games)

he had 6 of the top 13 scoring seasons in franchise history.

i don't see how this can even be in question

Dionne, Selanne, Gretzky, Robitaille

4 hall of famers who had outstanding careers. you youngsters really missed a gem by not seeing dionne in his prime. he was insanely good, and you could argue he was the best of the four i've listed.

i loved watching Kariya play, but his career was too short.

Gretzky 539 games 246 goals 672 assists 918 points 1.70 PPG

Dionne 921 games 550 goals 757 assists 1307 points 1.419 PPG

Kariya 606 games 300 goals 369 assists 669 points 1.10 PPG

Robitaille 1077 games 557 goals 587 assists 1154 points 1.07 PPG

Selanne 966 games 457 goals 531 assists 988 points 1.02 PPG

Getzlaf 675 games 196 goals 457 assists 653 points 0.97 PPG

Taylor 1111 games 431 goals 638 assists 1069 points (all with the Kings) 0.96 PPG

Perry 683 games 278 goals 293 assists 571 points 0.84 PPG

Doughty 484 games 63 goals 184 assists 247 points 0.51 PPG

Didn't realize how well Taylor did.  But Dionne should be Washington and Gretzky should be Lincoln.

Dionne was the first great hockey player in SoCal.

Vachon was the first great goalie in SoCal.

And a trivia question about one of the original Kings from the expansion season.

Ted Irvine was one of the top goal scorers on the first two teams.

Without looking it up, who is his famous son?
