Hawpe actually looked really good last ST with Texas. Showed good pop.  I don't think we're viewing him as an OF anymore, just a 1B/DH.  By the way, just as I was typing that, Matt Young just collided with the wall in LF in SLC.  Still caught it.  In the minor leagues, that's sheer concrete.

Man what happened to this guy? His career stats are pretty damn good, but he hasn't played since 2011 where he had a .645 OPS through just 62 games.

 

At worst, he is minor league depth. At best? I could see him being a good bat to have on the bench.

He slowly drifted off the radar... Can't remember why... might have been injury that plagued him... 

 

His career stats are decent, career .276 hitter, average 22 HR and 89 RBI. Played in only 62 games in 2011 for San Diego, hit .231 with 4 HR in 195 AB. On June 26, 2011 he had Tommy John surgery. Minor league contract with the Rangers in 2012 but didn't stick, ditto with the Pirates this spring.

Yes
