Are Shields or Scherzer

Four years/$120 million isn't so outrageous, although I'd prefer 4 years/$110 million.

Pay him for his remaining solid years with minimal bad seasons absorbed.

But someone will likely overpay for him in years and money anyway.

That's still pretty steep for a starting pitcher. The Angels already have enough SPs anyways....I'd like to see them acquire another bat.

it's 30 million per year. do you really want to pay shields 30 per year, for any length of time?

That was regarding Scherzer, and I did say I would prefer no more than $27.5 million/year for those 4 years.

Shields, I would only go as high as slightly above (about $17 million) what Nibs averages per year ($15.5 million) for his 5 years, and for 4 years max for Shields.

And I still am not 100% adamant about either.

You're telling me Sherzer wouldnt accept 4 yrs/100 million if the Angels offered it?  Im not sure about that, playing for the Angels is a good gig right now.  Even if your Sherzer and you only get 25 mill per year instead of 27 or 30, you still get to play in Southern California and play for a team that is already really good.  I wouldnt mind getting Sherzer for 4 years regardless of the cost.  I think his next 2 years will be similar to his previous 2, and by the last year of his deal he will still be a middle of the rotation guy.

But then again its also not my money.

When you turn down $142 million or whatever it was from a good Tigers team, you're probably not going to accept $100 million from the Angels. Besides that using the same logic he could be a Dodger for the same money.

The Tigers are decent, but if anything they are on the decline, while the Angels stock is rising.  Plus, nobody should ever have to live in Detroit.

As for the Dodgers, who wants to play in that smelly smog town.  :P
