Booted from the Big A for cheering the team on?

That's the point I was making before.  You don't have to show law enforcement (APD in this case) your ID if you've done nothing wrong and are simply minding your own business.  California is not what's called a "stop and identify" state.  Cops ask people for ID all the time hoping people are ignorant of the law.

The problem with telling security (or APD) your name is that that information could be added to a "banned" list so you can't purchase tickets ever again...

i realize that, but in this case security deemed that they HAD done something wrong (whether true or not)

For every time Trumbo is at bat, we should have a "Stand and cheer for Sarah" campaign.

I find it ironic that hours before she was on Roger Lodge praising the Angels team and organization. Roger asked her if missing the WS would be considered a failure and she replied, "I don't see ANY season as a failure". Talk about pissing off your most optimistic fan.

So we throw out fans for cheering, but allow those shitheads who start the wave to do whatever they want.

F#@k the wave and everyone who participates in it.

You could start a movement like these Nationals fans:  http://www.sportsgrid.com/mlb/a-brief-history-of-the-wave-nationals-fans-want-to-kill-it-but-is-it-to-ornery-to-die/

Not comparing anything else, but the food is awesome (and probably lethal fattening) in Arlington, and we elders/geriatrics are some of the more raucous fans.  The ushers don't have a police state mentality, either, nor do they in most ballparks.  I really didn't get the impression that the Big A was so interested in 'crowd control' - that comes as a surprise.

A large amount of the ushers at Angel Stadium suck and have done for a long time. The customer service at most other places (team store etc.) is worse. In fact, one of my few positive experiences with staff at the stadium was when I got heat stroke and took myself to first aid (the usher was too f'n useless to be of any help), the people there were great. Given how much we crap on about being fan friendly and the like, we really need to fix how staff at the stadium interact with the fans.

The ironic part about all of this is that, if only those "fans" had decided to cheer for the opposing team, there would not have been any sort of outcry against them.  This is why, when the Dodgers, Red Sox, White Sox, and Yankees play in Angel Stadium, it sounds like they're playing a home game.  And also why the Yankees jokingly refer to Angels Stadium as "Yankee Stadium West".

It's OK to cheer for the opposition, just don't dare cheer for the Angels in their own house.

I've heard way more passionate cheering for the Angels at an interleague game I attended in Petco Park (as a visitor) than I ever have at the Big A.

Hey Everyone, it's Sarah Colonna.  I just want to say that I have been overwhelmed with how supportive everyone has been about this. I knew I loved Angels fans, and this reminds me why.  I posted the blog because I had people who knew me around watching and saying my name so I wanted to tell my side of the story and make it clear I would never walk into Angel Stadium and be disrespectful...never.  I don't blame the organization at all and I will return to the stadium, as it's my favorite place to be.  I didn't realize the blog would be read by so many, but if it helps future incidents for fans who just want to root for their team, then I guess that's a good thing.  Again, I am so grateful for all of the support I have seen, and a lot is on here.  Thanks to Chuck for posting, and for all of your nice comments. It made what started as a rough day turn out to be a pretty amazing one.

Much love...and Go Angels, always.

That doesn't have any significance between security (or APD) is neither judge or jury.

come on now. You can try and go the  "you're infringing on my civil rights" act and refuse all you want, but they'll escort you out and conduct a search - for whatever reason they choose to make up.  Happened to someone i know about 4 years ago.

Good to hear your day got better, Sarah. I too would be upset if I got the boot for doing something you're supposed to do while at the game.

Tim Mead got back to me as well and said the Angels org. is all over this externally and internally, so good to hear.

Is the usher getting flogged as we speak?
