What is so laughable about a minor league contract? They picked up a guy that used to be a stud and suffered injury setbacks. The guy is only 34 and has had significant time off, he may just make a comeback. In any case a minor league deal is zero risk for the Royals.

The latest I found was an article dated December 9 that says that he will decide in mid January whether he wants to try to pitch in the majors again.

Madson got not one, but TWO teams to pay him millions of dollars to not pitch at all. The Reds paid him 8.5M to not pitch in 2012. We paid him $3.5M to not pitch in 2013.
