But I don't think it's them, unless they have visions of Matt Kemp being a CF again.

I love the stadium. Might actually go to a couple games now that they don't have the most boring shitty offense in baseball.

I don't understand why they'd dump Upton. 

 

Also, this was a great move for the Padres. They have the pitching already. They've just been working on acquiring the offensive pieces.

i think they see a window.

its an odd year number so the giants wont be a factor.

and if they can hop over the dodgers they can win the division.

their pitching is already great, so they just needed some bats.

good for them. exciting for the fans.

I hate to jump the gun, but totally agree. The dodgers offense was already kind of overrated. They still have an amazing front end staff but the back end is meh. The pads can hang pitching wise. They now have a pretty good offense. If meyers breaks out they could be a very good team.

Them and seattle could suprise this year.

i was born in and live in san diego. trust me. 

 

if you knew san diego, like i knew san diego, then you'd know what i'm talking about.

 

to be fair, the padres were the talk of the town today. it only took the single most trades i've ever seen a gm make in a span of less than 7 days. padre fans are used to getting coal in their hot stove stockings. they may build a preller statue in "the park at the park" already.

a definite possibility, but they had to do something. there is almost literally zero fan interest down here for the organization. several ownership groups in a row just decimated fan trust.

kemp probably. Second half last year aside, hes been more hype than anything the last few years. But if upton sucks, no worry, hes gone after this year

Yes, and Hamilton will be gone soon enough as well. It would be good if he did something during his tenure here, though.

 

If Upton performs and they lose him that's not really a good trade unless they win it all this year (unlikely) and if he doesn't then it is an even worse trade.
