Which Angel player departure has bummed you out the most?

Lyman Bostock and Jimmy Reese

If you include deaths, then yes, Bostock was a big blow for me.  I had a lot of respect on how he played and in his integrity.  I also believe if he had lived, the Angels probably would've won at least one WS.

When I think of players that hurt to lose I certainly don't think of free agents we signed. I think of homegrown players or players we acquired and BECAME successful here, like Eckstein I guess. So Vladdy and Torrii played on the Angels but their departure didn't really affect me on an emotional level like losing Glaus or GA. Lackey stung so much because of where he went. Howie hurts because he was a homegrown player we watched from the beginning, then he happens to go to one of the few teams I truly hate. The most emotional I have been about a player was Adenhart, without a doubt, but other than that it's probably Howie, even though it was probably the right decision.

Yeah i remember. I also remember how many people said vlad was done. That was after he hit like 280 with 25 or so home runs. Hamilton could do that next year and wed all forgive him....let that sink in

That was fuelled largely by playing in Arlington and he still only had a 1.8 WAR that year. Keeping him sure would have been better than that ridiculous extension we gave Abreu, but the "none of the above" option was the winner in that debate.

 

If you look back over the Scioscia era, there haven't been many established players we let go which came as a big shock. There's a couple of FAs we swung and missed on, which sucked at the time (Teixiera, Lackey etc) but we can all look back at those now and feel relieved. It's sad to see Kendrick go but it's hard not to feel like we did very well out of this deal.

Watching Abbott throw a no hitter on the yanks was so bitter sweet. I also thought for sure glaus would be an Angel whole career and lead the franchise in hr. That game vlad destroyed us as a ranger I couldn't help standing and cheering him.

There were two pitchers in SoCal that I would check the papers to see if they were pitching, and if they were, I would go to the stadium that night and purchase a cheap seat just to see them pitch.
