Lot of money for a setup guy. In general, I don't think it makes a lot of sense to spend much more than $6-7 mil per year on a relief arm. Joe Smith closed games out damn well last year, for $5 mil.

He certainly is being overpaid as a reliever in general but if you think about it he could just as easily be a closer for any team and getting him below a closer's value did save a bit of money for the Yankees. If his name was Papelbon that would have been a $60MM contract in all likelihood.
