of those i have zero interest in colon, and would only have interest in Niese both due to numbers and contract.
that having been said i wouldnt overpay at all and i dint know the Mets needs to speculate on what i would send them so.,..

Niese has injury concerns and the Mets will probably want way more than he is worth.

Wouldn't mind having him but I don't think he's worth giving up much for.

Unfortunately, if Arte is wishing to stay under the luxury tax, we can't afford a #2 (unless Howie is traded).

 

Ergo, depth is a requirement (which is what Dipoto has done).

 

I think that Niese might be a nice #4. ERA+ last three years has been 112 (190.1 IP), 96 (143 IP), 102 (187.2 IP).

 

He has a really nice contract, is signed thru 2016 with team options for 2017 & 2018.

 

I don't think we'd have to give up much.

The Mets will want plenty in return. Controllable starting pitching is at a premium. The Mets will have plenty of action on Niese. The Angels don't really have anything to trade.

Niese has major injury concerns and bad peripherals, Colon is old, overpaid, and had a big decline in velocity last year, Gee would be the guy I would consider going after. My preference would be to add another Tropeano type of starter though.

I would rather keep an eye on who the orioles non tender. They have 7 pitchers that are arb eligible. They may non tender a couple of them.

Seems fair to me, as they have a key rotation guy that we Rule 5'd in Miguel Gonzales.
