If I had to take a guess, I'd say the Angels are viewing Roberto Baldoquin as their 3B of the future. They've got several options at 2B, Aybar has two more years at SS and is probably the Angels SS for the rest of his career.

But 3B? Freese is a FA after this year and we have no idea if he's even worth resigning. Cowart has one more year to prove himself worthy but it's looking dim. Stamets is more of a SS, but can pick it at 3B too but doesn't project into a starting role. Cal Towey has the talent both on offense and defense but needs to put it together across a full season. Zach Houchins also has the talent but is at least 3 years away.

Enter Baldoquin. 20 years old, plays every spot in the infield, built like a 3B and the Angels made an 8 million dollar investment in the kid.

I don't see any of those options as sure things, but you gotta figure the Angels are banking on Baldoquin.
