I agree with wophil but would say Smoltz this time instead of Piazza.

 

Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez, Craig Biggio (should have gotten in as a first ballot guy last year) and Smoltz.

 

I think Sheffield deserves to get in but it's going to take a few years........I still think he wasted a lot of his potential being angry at one organization after another and burning bridges. It's interesting to watch him as an ESPN analyst.........Sheffield certainly got some raw deals by teams during his MLB career (he was part of the two worst salary dumps in MLB history -- San Diego Padres after the team was sold (and after Sheffield had an MVP type season) and Florida Marlins (after they won a title).......but he wasted some of his most productive years being angry and wasting his talent -- and he was a very good ballplayer -- could have been one of the best ever IMO -- but his attitude got in the way.  He's a guy who could have hit 650 HRs and stolen 400 bases.
