Boston isn't worried about defense. If Ramirez lets a run in with an error, Big Poopy will just get a 'roid rush and jack one into the upper deck. Problem solved.

Hanley is no longer the elite player he once was. Still plenty strong and has enough natural talent that he succeeds without pushing himself as others would. But if he wasn't going to do it in the glitz and glamor of LA, I doubt he'll be a working man's hero in Boston.

I see him rubbing his teammates the wrong way after a year or two, and then his deteriorating skill combined with a ho-hum attitude will the organization and city against him.

As for Panda, he'll be the same no matter where he goes. .280 and probably 20 HR will be the norm. But apparently 100 million is now the going rate for that sort of production.

He is a liability as a shortstop. He single-handedly blew Kershaw's perfect game. He can hit, but he gets injured all the time. He is one of those players that if he slides into a base, there is a 50/50 chance that he will come up gimpy. Glad that the Dodgers are dealing him.

Ortiz is a good mentor for Hanley. He wont let him mess around and dog it. I expect a business-like approach from a 3-4-5 of Hanley, Ortiz, and Cespedes. Yikes.

Kind of expected Hanley to net over $100 million tbh, so with that, it's not that terrible. Still, I don't trust him to stay healthy/productive over the course of the deal and the guy is a butcher defensively

Agreed. Even worse is they'll be moving one of Bogaerts or Betts now. Cespedes alone won't net them a stud pitcher. I don't like what Boston is doing. Sign one of Pablo/Hanley, not both, and keep your young guys

Boston is positioning itself pretty well.  They can try to sign Lester or trade for Hamels...   Moving all those guys to the Dodgers a couple years back has really helped that franchise..

The prodigal son returns. Hanley was traded for Beckett and now that the douche level in Boston has receded to a 10 year low, he returns to bring back some good old assholiness to a personality weak Red Sox lineup.  

 

I guess the Yankees only response would to be put the Panda on 3rd and groom him to be the future DH when A-Rod's contract ends in 2018.
