So Alden basically says he replaces Jean Segura in the organization.

So, they sign Baldoquin because they don't have any sure thing middle infielders, but later in the article he mentions trading Kendrick because its a position the Angels are deep in.

Well they don't have any sure things at SS, only a defensive whiz in Stamets. Baldoquin helps there but they can also use him at 3B where they only have Cowart (all projection no polish) and Towey (all polish, little projection).

My guess is Baldoquin ends up at 3B, the team extends Aybar at SS and uses Yarbrough at 2B with Green at DH and depth while Stamets is the utility infielder, late inning defensive replacement and pinch runner.

Don't forget Sherman Johnson in the 2B-3B equation a year or two from now.

Kiley McDaniel, the prospect expert at Fangraphs, said this about Baldoquin in a chat yesterday:

 

"Lots of 50s and 55s. Similar to Alex Blandino on the Reds list. Once exec told me his team was in the mix until the end and would’ve taken him in the 1st round."
