Jordan Zimmermann for Kendrick and a Bullpen Arm Possible?

Mike DiGiovanna just posted a story about Kendrick's trade interest and lists Fister and Zimmermann as trade candidates.  Dipoto basically says we aren't moving him unless we get better and it's a strong offer.  Basically same Nats said for Fister and Zimmermann.

The Nats certainly do need a 2nd baseman. Cabrera is a free agent, Espinoza sucks and they are about 2 years out on Renda from their minors to play 2nd. The question for them, is one year of Kendrick worth the salary relief from Zimmerman to do other roster improvements and what do they do the following season when Kendrick is a free agent?

I'm not sure Kendrick is their solution unless they are complimenting this trade with other moves and may be thinking extension. The Angels would certainly like keep Zimmerman but the way salaries are skyrocketing they may not be able to make the AAV work out on an extension. In the long run the trade may favor the Nationals more than Angels.

Even if the Angels can't extend Zimmermann, they surely would get a 1st rd pick by offering up the QO.  1st round picks don't necessarily translate to a star player, however does the opportunity cost of keeping Kendrick this year and letting him walk next year with no return outweigh Zimmermann for a year and a 1st round pick?  Of course other players involved would need to be taken into consideration, but I'd still move for Zimmermann.

162 Games Most Runs Scored in the League > 3 ALDS Games.

Seriously dude, get over it. We ran into a hot team and we went cold.

Do you think that could have anything to do with the fact that our offense is really top heavy?  That we dont have a deep lineup that is capable of putting together a string of quality at bats against good pitching.

A year ago, the Tigers turned down a Kendrick-Fister deal.  I get the feeling the Nats would as well, unless the Angels gave them something else notable, like a prospect or good RP.

different organization and potentially different qualifiers. one thing fans need to consider, and you are probably an exception because of your MWAH goings on, but the actual mitigating factors to a successful trade are details that we have little to no knowledge of. it's a significantly more complex proposition than fans think it is.
