Hellickson to the Diamondbacks

They got him pretty cheap. I think he would have been worth a look

the two prospects the rays received are both young and have had good success at their respective levels. i think this is one of those trades that are probably good for both teams. it's a classic wait and see trade.

Rays gave up a ML pitcher for a SS and OF prospect. They barely made Arizona's top 10 prospect list so this trade seems about right.

Hellickson really isn't that good. His ERA/FIP is actually quite similar to Hector Santiago.

I get that Stewart is trying to prop up his new guy, but if he really thinks Hellickson is a #2/3 then the Dbacks are in trouble going forward.

Helllickson WAS pretty good at one point -- didn't he win ROY?

 

I think it's a pretty good deal for Arizona........I'd list him as a solid number three rotation guy.
