still have a station in glendale at $3.09. traffic yesterday was like the 405 at rush hour, and his station was a ghost town.

Hate to throw cold water on the thread, but the new California gas tax went into effect yesterday. It will probably add at least 10 cents to each gallon and possibly much more. Cap and trade.

They make very little of their profit from the actual gas usually. Maybe ten to fifteen cents a gallon. They make most of their money with people shopping in their mini-stores.

How does Costco manage to sell gas 10 to 15 cents cheaper?  They have almost the same infrastructure as ordinary gas stations, with one or two gas station attendants to watch over everything.  On top of that, the pumps are not in service 24 hours a day.
