Which 2nd baseman in MLB hit .293 (.347 OBP) was 11th in the AL for BA; knocked in 75 RBIs; and was 7th in total hits in the AL and a 4.4 oWAR?

He had his best year ever last year and is 31 years old - prime time and was a terrific double play combo with his buddy the SS.

It's pretty remarkable that so many people want to see Howie traded. The drop off from him to Beckham or Green is huge.

You're also not going to get a big return for any player that's a FA after next year. I'd rather hold on to him.

I don't think Billingsley can survive a season.

Speaking of former Rockies, Franklin Morales has never had a chance to pitch outside of a hitters' paradise. If he can be had cheap and be convinced to throw strikes he might have some value here. Clint Barmes could be the new Johnny Mac.

What about signing Edison Volquez to a one or two year deal?

noooooooooooooooo. he's an absolute gas can. he had a handful of good starts to end the season and pittsburgh, in their infinite wisdom, decided to start him in a do or die game. surprisingly, they didn't advance. his career is shit.

Not a good idea IMO.

Strikeouts were way down last year. Posted a .263 BABIP, well below his career .298 BABIP which suggests he was very lucky. His 4.15 FIP also says he wasn't as good as his 3.04 ERA says.

I think some team will give him a 2/15 type of deal and regret it.
