Joe Maddon To Cubs

Probably the only guy I really wanted to replace Sosh.

Arte, give jolly St. Mike another 10-year-deal.

I'm worried Arte might just do that if the baseball writers blindly give the Manager of the Year to the team with the most regualr season wins :(

If this is true, the stink factor of it all is pretty high for me.  I will think a little less of Maddon for basically taking a job that belonged to someone else who is being let go despite doing a good job.  I think a lot less of Epstein and Hoyer too.  I hope the Cubs don't sniff the post season for another 100+ years.

They felt they could trade to mangers to go with the team they were building. It is just business for all involved, every one of them can be dismissed and replaced and are as the seasons go by. How do you think Epstein and Hoyer got their jobs?

It's one thing to interview for an open position... it's another to interview for one that's still occupied.

Most of these positions are occupied and waiting for a better fit. Waiting for the right guy to come available. Maddon became available, Renteria was just a fill in for a better fit.
