He would have called for a squeeze with Panda up to bat which would lead to a popout triple play. He would then bring in Barry Zito in relief who would promptly give up the winning runs.

When I think of a Dynasty I think of the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 70's, the 49ers of the 80's, maybe the Patriots of this past decade, Cowboys of the 90's and of course the Yankees of old.

Not the SF Giants.

The closest thing to a dynasty in sports today is the Spurs.

Some mentioned poker before...another great example.

 

The Giants missed the playoffs in 2011 (mostly because of Buster Posey) and in 2013...they finished tied for 3rd in the division. No SUPERIOR team would lose that many games because Angel Pagan got hurt.

 

The NL West might be the worst division. The Rockies are always bad, the Padres...pretty much the same, ditto for the D-Backs...which usually leaves the Dodgers and Giants.

 

Everyone sees how lucky they can be...2010, 2012 was a lil better and 2014...the Nats just straight gave away a game and Yadier Molina got hurt (and they of course won the next 3 games).

 

DYNASTY teams don't need that, BUT I'll give a lot of credit to Madison Bumgarner and Bruce Bochy. Hunter Pence is weird, but he gets the job done. The Bullpen (minus Strickland) do a great job and the bench/platoon guys come through with some big hits.

 

But, I'll stay say no.

100x this. Scioscia/Arte are too deferential to players contracts and career stats rather than what they are capable of doing in the present. Giving struggling veterans some leash and holding out for turnaround can be OK in the rgeular season when you can tolerate a losing streak in order to set up a long winnning streak, but you don't get that luxury in the playoffs.
