"I wonder what their ticket prices are?"

One can only imagine what the scalpers are getting -- if there are any outside the park.

I can just see this scenario, though, that reminds me of years ago when I was going to school in San Diego -- my sister and her (then) young son (he's 40 or something like that now) -- we were at a Padres game -- this was a few years after they joined the league as an expansion team (guys like Ozzie Smith and Dave Winfield were on the team, though!) -- being all broke back then, we got cheap seats (must have been $5 or $6 back then, perhaps less).......place is empty. They're playing Montreal, the other expansion team. San Diego Stadium (before it became Jack Murphy Stadium and the Qual Com or whatever it's called now).......place was also home to SDSU Aztecs (they used to out-draw the Chargers back then)..........anyway, mid-week night game a throng of about 7,000 (maybe) 'packed' into a stadium that seats 65.000 or more........we're in cheap seats, my nephew is 5 or 6, something like that --- we move through the empty rows and rows and rows of seats to better seats (still the same level -- not like we're going from nose-bleed to behind the dugout) --- the usher sees us and makes us go back to our original seats.........

My sister, who has always been a bit sassy, says "hey, you should pay us for being here'  Usher guy in those ridiculous usher uni's (like the ones they still wear at the Big A, but these were in those hideous more yellow than gold and brown colors, was not amused but didn't really care either.

I can see the same scene being played out at Florida's ballpark on opening day.........yeah, fans, we love ya........

There would have been more people but Jeff Mathis is out, so his family didn't go.

Looks like Pack the House Night in Miami. If they hadn't built that new ballpark, their attendance would have really sucked.

At one time Jeffrey Loria was looking long and hard at Las Vegas. Thanks for passing on us, Jeff.

I don't envision a professional sports team gracing Las Vegas with it's presence.  Too much can go wrong.  This isn't to say trouble can't find you in every city but it just seems like Vegas is the one city that would have the most unnecessary drama surrounding the team.

I think we went over this once before. The places that would be in the best position to support an MLB franchise are Portland, San Antonio and one of the Carolinas. Off the top of my head I can't remember all the ones we listed. I think it was a thread on the older forum. Still, I'd love to see a professional team in Portland, would become an immediate rival with Mariners. The Carolinas are also intriguing, see how much they support college ball and minor league ball.

Cities I remember being mentioned in the past for possible expansion were Portland, San Antonio, Charlotte, Salt Lake City, and possibly even Montreal again.
