It turned out to be the smallest crowd in franchise history with an announced attendance of just 7,311.

Reasons the Panthers dont belong in Florida:

#1 Florida already has the Tampa Bay Lightning who have won a stanley cup in 2004, a superstar in Stamkos & better uniforms & franchise overall.

#2 The Panthers are a boring team.

#3 The Panthers have only about 100 fans.

#4 Seattle or Regina(Sakatchewan Canada, where Tatiana Maslany from Orphan Black comes from) should get a team.

The candidates are several and growing.

 

One thing I have never understood about the Carolina Hurricanes is their secondary logo:

 

 

As anyone who grew up in an area prone to hurricanes knows, the flag signal for a hurricane warning is two red flags with embedded black squares, not one. One flag is the signal for a storm warning. Maybe they knew not to expect much from the beginning.

That picture of the Fla/Ott game reminded me of going to Ice Dogs games in LB years ago.  They'd get about 1K fans for weekend games, but the barn (Long Beach Arena) was sold-out for the Finals vs. Det. in '97.

 

Those were the days; we played a bunch of post-games there and got to know the ice-crew guys in order to play late-night pickup after the Dogs games.
