that's absurdly false, and every player ever will tell you that. players want to experience the world series, super bowl, etcetera. they want to be a part of it. once they get there they absolutely want to win, but i've been around countless players just talking about how they want to experience the postseason.

Well you do play to win a championship.  And you only get the rings, recognition, and the accolades by winning it all, not by appearing in it.  Does anyone care that the Rangers appeared in back to back World Series?  Thats a pretty big deal using your logic right?  But the answer: no, nobody cares as it was meaningless.
