The Angels made history recently..

Worst ever?  Hardly.  In the last 10 years alone 2005 was much worse as the Angels won a 5 game ALDS series vs. NY where Bartolo got hurt after facing I think 2 batters in game 5 and Santana had to come in.  The next day they were in Chicago playing game 1 when most people (myself included) weren't counting on them to win that game after the long series they just wrapped up while Chicago had 3-4 days rest.  They won that and were tied late in game 2 until the infamous Josh Paul play.  They ended up losing the next 3 games to lose the series.  That hurt a hell of a lot more for me.

I'm guessing he's talking about the 2008 season where the Cubs won 97 games and were swept out of the playoffs by the Dodgers in the 1st round?

That year, the Angels had the best record with 100 wins. The Cubs did have the best record in the National League though.

Yeah, still bad but not as bad as being the best team in baseball and getting swept in the 1st round.
