Obviously both stats are really weak on their own, but I'd much rather evaluate a player by just their runs, than just their RBI's. They're very lineup dependent stats, but you can only get a maximum of one run per PA, and you still have to run the bases well to score (so even if you get on by an error or fielder's choice,) while you can get multiple RBI's on just a lucky out.
