Honestly, this team is better off just keeping him off the postseason roster, or at least relegating him to pinch hitter at this point

He's missed most of this month, and isn't going to play at all this weekend eitehr from the sounds of it. He'll be returning to the lineup having not faced live pitching for weeks, which will just lead to him looking even worse at the plate as he tries to get into a groove, and will obviously be planted right in the middle of the lineup for no reason other than his name. The team is clicking just fine without him

False. Without him we are shallower and minus a lefty bat. If he's batting 4th, then that could throw a wrench in my argument, but put a healthy Hamilton in the bottom half of the order and he is a serviceable positive to the team.

The Angels could be better off with him. But the way he has played - especially since the second half of the season - he certainly would not be missed. And last time I checked the regular season is basically over.. so there's no chance for him to show whether he's ready to contribute positively or not. The Angels would be taking a huge gamble by giving him regular playing time in the postseason...especially after this latest "injury."

He's hitting .228/.283/.377 for a 88 wRC+ in the second half of the season. And in the first half he had a .412 BABIP, fueled mostly by his blazing April start where he had a .550+ BABIP. The second half is a lot more indicative of who he is right now than his first half.

What is crazy is that if you believe WAR then Hamilton has been more valuable to the Angels than Hunter has been to the Tigers. Hunter is actually a negative WAR player this year because of his poor defense, who would have ever thought that? While at the same time Hamilton is a plus 1 WAR player this year. If WAR has any validity then seeing what we have seen from Hamilton and he has been better than Hunter, then I sure as hell wouldn't want to endure watching Hunter play this season.
