I need a good TV series to binge watch. Any suggestions?

I'm weird regarding sci-fi. Star Wars is my favorite movie ever, I love Stargate and Starship Troopers. Yet I'm not into Aliens, or any of the other sci-fi stuff. I guess I'm right in the middle of being a sci-fi nerd. That's why I've waited so long on BSG.

At it's heart Star Wars is not "sci-fi". Yes, spaceships, aliens, galaxy far far away, etc...Someone once described it to me as the world's greatest fairy tale. There is a genre called Space Opera, which involves large stories spread across multiple people (sometimes worlds). Usually multiple volumes. Star Wars is a Space Opera, much like Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones is on the fantasy side. Battlestar falls in to that category as well.

Space Opera aye? I like it.

There are some great video games out there that one would consider Space Opera.

Six Feet Under looks interesting will add it to the list.

I've heard about Rome and Deadwood, but I heard they were cancelled mid-way. That must be the reason I’ve stayed away from the two series. Is it still worth watching?

Haven't seen Deadwood but Rome is still worth it. I wouldn't really say it was cancelled mid-way. It didn't last as long as HBO would have liked because BBC backed out of their partnership but it doesn't really have any loose ends either. A lot of people say season 2 wasn't as good because HBO had to consolidate too much but I think it's mostly because season 1 was about Caesar and Octavian just isn't as interesting.

Transparent was excellent.  I went through all of the episodes this weekend.

And I just now got all of the implications of the title.  Wow.

That good huh? Everything I've read about it has been positive so we will be adding that to our playlist. Maybe after we finishing slogging through The Leftovers.

Tons of great shows have been listed already, but I'll throw some love to one of my favorites.

Veronica Mars

It stars a young Kristen Bell playing a high school student with a gift for solving mysteries.  Each episode she plays detective and solves mysteries from petty crime to more serious stuff like the murder of her best friend (Amanda Seyfried).  It all has a very noir feel to it.  Think of it as Sherlock Holmes meets The Maltese Falcon, all in a high school setting.
