I don't find either to be cool guys. Gibson is an asshole, Tyson is an asshole. Gibson is just much wealthier and doesn't have to go on public access tv to tell a third rate talk show host to go **** himself. He just tells that to arresting officers when he is caught drunk driving.

I think the reason public opinion turned out that way is because Gibson bad mouthed the same people who control his image and employment.

Gibson was his own Executive Producer and employer. His image was his own to control and did really well at it all the way up until he called one of the arresting officers Sugar Tits. It wasn't all about his anti-sematic statements, he pretty much pissed off women in general for being a sexist pig.

Some Jewish writer did a long article about Mel Gibson for some publication several months ago. It was a good read. The main point of it was that Gibson isn't the evil guy he is portrayed to be, and in fact has taken a lot of action (but not doing so very publicly) to atone for the things he has said and done.

My only point was that Gibson is still a pariah (right or wrong) but Tyson is totally popular.  It makes no sense to me.

By the way, I have no problem with the Jesus movie.  I watched plenty of his movies after it came out.  His hate of Jews is what stopped me from ever consuming one of his films again.
