What the hell is wrong with Hector? I hope he's not injured or something...

To be fair, he does not necessarily have starter type talent. He is in the rotation simply due to injuries. He is best suited as the long man out of a bullpen. He is likable and valuable, but he isn't a regular starting type pitcher. Also, no worries, our team is up by 11 games, we aren't going to win them all - though that would be nice.

Completely disagree. He is a bottom of the rotation guy that all teams need. He has had plenty of 5-6 IP with 0-2 ERs games. There aren't that many games where a long rotation arm guy is needed. So you will have a guy that can put up long innings with minimal damage and rarely use him. Not to mention those games typically are already out of reach.

Hector Santiago was never much of a rotation guy -- even with Chicago White Sox, he was more of a swing man -- yeah, he got some starts and all.

but even this year (early) he pitched himself off the rotation and earned a ticket back to SLC.

it was only when the injuries hit the Halos that he was inserted back into the rotation -- and had some decent starts.

but today he reverted to his norm.......he's really a middle inning (multiple innings) relief guy -- not quite long relief but could fill that role -- certainly not a set up guy or closer.

he's a spot starter, 4 inning type guy (didn't even get that far today) and a middle inning / multiple innings pitcher who can come in as early as the fourth and usually more like the 6th, pitching the 6th and 7th before turning it over tot the set up guy and closer................

yeah, put up that alert -- that should guarantee it ends next inning.......

I don't think this guy pitches a perfecto, no hitter or even a shut out against us today -- well, I hope that comment doesn't doom us.

I see up getting off the floor in this game and making it a game with our pen shutting them down to make it a winnable game for us.

Calhoun made some nice plays out there - he actually was responsible for the one guy not scoring on that double with two outs.

unfortunately Bedrosian isn't fooling any one and is sort of lucky to get out of the inning with only two runs scored against him.

I thought Calhoun may have had the guy on a double play on that first catch -- good effort on his part -- but the re-play showed the guy got back to first in time -- the runner seemed to dog it a bit to me........

Hopefully, Sosh does not have Bedrosian come back out for the next inning.

Halos need to score about two runs this inning and start chipping away -- this game is winnable.

empty ballpark --

Sunday afternoon games don't seem to draw well........

when trying to re-sell tickets, the broker guys won't even talk to you when you bring in Sunday afternoon tickets.

so mid-September game, Halos playing well, but game vs. HOUSTON, isn't the clincher -- beautiful weather day -- NFL football on -----

I mean, folks have other things to do.........

expect Tuesday and Wednesday night's games to be sell outs and if they don't clinch Wednesday, Thursday's game will be sold out........

if they clinch vs. Seattle, expect a lot of empty seats for the weekend series vs. Texas............

then Oakland comes in and we get to play spoiler the last week of the season with both Oakland and Seattle.

Kenny -- not so bad if you have Terrace level seats or are on the third base line (preferably with Terrace level seats).

otherwise, you're right -- down the right field line in the box seats (where they usually have 'available' seats -- wonder why -- it's just a killer -- can't put on enough sun screen and then in the mid to late afternoon you're kind of looking directly at the sun).

lots of other things for folks to do today -- NFL has pretty much taken over -- people these days plan their Sundays around BBQs w/ NFL games.........(not me -- I pretty much gave up watching NFL football quite some time ago -- but everyone else, it seems, just lives for it each week -- amazing how the NFL has dominated the sports market and the sports advertising dollar).
