Adrian Peterson indicted for reckless/negligent injury to child

Jesus H Christ. Hit a kid with a switch and have the cops called on you??

What in the actual hell?

I'd bet money that was how AP was reprimanded when he was a kid.  When I first read what he supposedly did I just remembered the community episode where Troy brings his grandmother who makes Britta go get her a switch so she can hit her with it.

Grand Jury reviewed this case and decided not to charge him with anything.  Guess the DA decided to do it anyway.

The DA's fantasy opponent this week probaly has him in their line up. Smart move in terms of fantasy

What a bunch of pussies. TMZPN is going to push this story to the limit even though the courts didn't see reason to allow charges.

I think I'm a bit younger than most regs and this was the norm for my generation as well. I wouldn't do it myself, but it's a way of discipline.

Pics?

Like Brandon, I'm younger than most here, and got plenty of beatings.

Getting to pick your poison was the best, because dad would always select the most painful item, regardless of my 'choice'

They're right there in the Deadspin link

The beating allegedly resulted in numerous injuries to the child, including cuts and bruises to the child's back, buttocks, ankles, legs and scrotum, along with defensive wounds to the child's hands. Peterson then texted the boy's mother, saying that one wound in particular would make her "mad at me about his leg. I got kinda good wit the tail end of the switch."

Peterson also allegedly said via text message to the child's mother that he "felt bad after the fact when I notice the switch was wrapping around hitting I (sic) thigh" and also acknowledged the injury to the child's scrotum in a text message, saying, "Got him in nuts once I noticed. But I felt so bad, n I'm all tearing that butt up when needed! I start putting them in timeout. N save the whooping for needed memories!"

Looks like a pretty good discipline sesh.

Maybe too much considering the kid is only four, but what do I know.

I bet he doesn't do whatever he did to deserve it again.

What?  Belt is one thing.  Kid had scabs from open wounds.  Also, it is very illegal.

I'm younger than a lot of guys here.  My mom used a wooden spoon on me, but it was never used on bare skin and never left a mark, much less a welt or bleeding.  And I was always spanked on my butt.

The kid was 4.  You don't do this to a child of any age, but you certainly don't do it to a 4 year old.  Stick the kid in the corner and give him a time out.

This is going to be interesting to watch.  Culturally, many in the south would probably think nothing of this type of punishment.  Others would think it cruel and unusual.  My own father was a southerner who used cruel and unusual physical punishments, but I would never condone using them on my own children.

Yep, the kid wasn't old enough to know right from wrong..
