Orange County Register: Angry Trout hit by a pitch for third time in two days

Warnings are issued per game unless there appears to be obvious intent. Texas is throwing a bunch of AAAA pitchers out there and telling them to pitch inside on just about everyone. Trout is not the only guy to get hit the last couple series or backed off and even knocked down.

i get the whole pitching inside thing, but come on, 3 times in 2 days, thats not control, thats stupid.
anyone else plunked in that timeframe that i missed?  if not then just stop the bull

Seems like everyone has been hit in the last week. I don't know why, even our own pitchers have run a few shots over players heads without there being any reason.

I love Smith's quotes from that article:

Smith said he wasn’t surprised at the warning, but that he simply lost his control.

“Obviously you are going to get a warning,” Smith said. “I just threw one too far in. One to the backstop. Almost threw one over the wall. A rough night control-wise.”

I'll give the Rangers the benefit of the doubt in that pitching Trout inside on his hands is the way to beat him. I don't see why they'd be so bitter about losing that they'd just start plunking the best player of the best team late in the season, unless Trout was running his mouth, which I have heard nothing of the sort, and definitely nothing to deserve being thrown at four times.

I'm sure Trout is mad, but I'm also sure Trout doesn't mind as much as he was sweeping them once again.

It seems pretty irresponsible to tell young pitchers with command questions to pitch tight continually.

If you are a control guy who has made a habit of pitching tight without hitting batters, you have earned that inside part of the plate.

Gibson, Marichal, Drysdale, Pedro, etc. all earned that right because of their impeccable control.

If they hit Trout again next weekend it will be time for one of the Angel pitchers to take a shot at Beltre.  I am not a fan of throwing at batters but sometimes you have to protect your teammates.  Somebody earlier said that players can possibly get hurt in brawls, several players are hurt every year getting hit by pitches.
