The "its early" crowd was right

The "it's early crowd" was right, that you can't judge a season by a week or two of play. Now the opposite of the "it's early crowd" the "it's over" crowd, well they have been wrong, a lot. If you'd like to see a great example would be in the game day threads of the two games in Houston and even the first three games in Minnesota. The "it's over" crowd just love to over react about a early game deficit or a game where the offense starts a little late in the game. It's the ebb and flow of a season. Does anyone really care about losing two games to Houston now? If you do, why? There's an old saying in baseball, "everyone wins 60 games and everyone loses 60 games, it's what you do with the other 40 that matters". Well the Angels are about to go about 38-2 in those other 40.

Fire Hatcher! Oh, wait, we already did that.

It didn't fully sink in until last night when I was watching Sports Center: We have an eight game lead with three weeks left.

I've never been one to react much to a short stretch of games, whether they go well or poorly. The baseball season is a marathon. Some people were ready to push the panic button when we dropped three straight to Seattle to open the season. People were talking about this player or that (most of it directed at David Freese back then) not hitting eight or ten games into the season and needing to be yanked out of the lineup.

It's looking pretty good right now - finally. We're eight games ahead of Oakland, and our old nemesis Rangers are firmly buried in last place, the first team to be mathematically eliminated from post-season play.
