Tom Burnett's last conversation with his wife on September 11, 2001:

Tom: We’re waiting until we’re over a rural area. We’re going to take back the airplane.

...Deena: What about the authorities?

Tom: We can’t wait for the authorities. I don’t know what they could do anyway.

It’s up to us. I think we can do it.

Deena: What do you want me to do?

Tom: Pray, Deena, just pray.

Deena: (after a long pause) I love you.

Tom: Don’t worry, we’re going to do something.

That's how you act..  Don't stand-back and record for youtube.

Spending time on the pile lb. I have read many stories about first responders having respiratory issues after spending time on the pile. Searching for survivors and victims

I was lucky..  We went the weekend of the National Memorial, and recovery was shut-down.  It was a blessing and a curse; I was unable to pitch-in, but there wasn't a lot of "dust" flying around.

When you read this short bio of Tom Burnett, written by his wife, you can see why he was the perfect man to be placed in that terrible situation.

A truly great man.
