He's really been a lot more selective this season. 45 walks!

I think that's the key. I would like to see a higher slugging pct., more doubles and HR's, but he's been pretty consistent this season.

He's become a bigger run producer this season (potentially on his way to career highs in runs scored and driven in), in addition to the better plate discipline.

Kind of a quirk, but his best seasons had previously been in every odd numbered year.

This season though, except for the OPS, compares favorably to the odd numbered years.

He also currently has the best WAR of his career (4.4).

Send Hamilton to the 5th spot.   Leave what is working ALONE!

Come to think of it, send him to the 8th spot.   Aybar, Freese, and Iannetta are all hitting better.

he's always been a solid player,  how many 2b are really better in the majors ? not many.  This mini power surge over the last 5 or 6 days has really been nice to see, that was really the only concern I had with him this year.

So you're saying he is the Ervin Santana of batters !?

I think people are just reacting to how hot he's been of late (.565/.600/1.087 over the last five games). Overall, though, he's basically the same player he was last year, albeit less power and more walks. But he's not really a better player now than he's been for a few years now.

His WAR argues differently.  Regardless he has been solid for the team and is a key part of it.

Didn't some people here want to trade him for starting pitching?

I think I would still trade him for starting pitching but since that's not going to happen, I'm very happy that he is hitting well right now.
