The designated him for assignment last month. He was unclaimed in waivers so ended up in the Pirates AAA team. Now he's been cut from their AAA team.

If he ever develops a secondary pitch he'd make a good reliever for any number of teams. I suspect he'll be back in the majors at some point.

Well his problem this year is actually his fastball, it doesn't move as much as it used to.

He was fine as a setup man when using only his fastball, because it was filthy. Tons of movement. I think his struggles started when he tried to have a larger repertoire of pitches and now that good fastball with movement has flattened out. Once he finds that pitch again he'll be good.

Edit: Changed didn't to did, big difference. People actually wanted Frieri to close games!
