You can NOT blame Downs.  No, he hasn't been perfect.  But this offense should be scoring enough that the BP doesn't need to be perfect.

The middle of our lineup is supposed to make up the difference between the middle and back of our rotation being a collection of 4s and 5s.  This team is built to win games 8-5 or 6-4.  Losing 3 1run games when you don't get that boost means you have to make up for it later.

Admittedly, Downs should be the last of the four in my statement.    Even though he's been the loser in two games, he's not pathetic.   But he's also not nearly what he used to be, pre-2012 ASB.

HArd to be surprised when we saw him do this last year vs the Halos and we laughed at him swinging at everything. If this is going to continue all year, he'll have a tough time maintaining a solid BA because of how often he whiffs.

But, they have to hit over .250 while they are cold. At least Pujols walks when he doesn't hit. Hamilton swinging at that outside breaking ball, while not unexpected, is already starting to annoy me. Good job with the BB by Trumbo today, but he needs to have better ABs.
